To avoid redundancy and improve resource utilization, D-5 Steering Committee (D5), the Beacon of Hope (BOH) and Lakeview Civic Improvement Association (LCIA) have joined forces together to speak as one voice and form a working team for recovery.  Through this collaborative endeavor the survey shown below was completed.  This survey includes the inspection and inventory of six thousand nine hundred and ninety seven (6,997) properties in the Lakeview area.  This Lakeview neighborhood is bounded by Robert E. Lee Blvd. to the north, Orleans Canal to the east, City Park Avenue along the Pontchartrain Expressway to Veterans Blvd. to the south and the 17th Street Canal to the west.  The boundaries of the LCIA also include the area at West End Park, Breakwater Drive and Marine Drive.  This footprint before the storm was the home of approximately seven thousand one hundred and fifty (7,150) families or developed parcels of property.

This survey has been conducted on a quarterly basis over the past fifteen months to identify the growth and recovery of Lakeview.  The information has been provided as a service to the general public and the citizens of this community to enhance awareness of the many improvements and progress completed.  This survey is a work in progress.

The survey committee was originally the product of the efforts of the D-5 Infrastructure committee, the block captain program and the survey committee.  With the additional help of the BOH, their volunteers and administrators, we can now achieve even greater goals.  The objectives of our team are to further enhance recovery through increased awareness of the homes identified in the survey which need attention to contact those property owners and demand action.  Two (2) years is long enough to wait for the gutting and securing of homes and property maintenance.
