Neighborhood
Stabilization and Blight Remediation
Mission:
Partner with City Code Enforcement officials, the
LCIA Board and residents of Lakeview to identify
properties in Lakeview which are in violation of
City property condition ordinances and to monitor
and support the City’s efforts to achieve ordinance
compliance.
Committee
Projects:
Conduct
periodic surveys of Lakeview properties to
identify blighted, overgrown and otherwise
out-of-compliance properties.
Maintain
a comprehensive electronic database of Lakeview
properties that will track the condition of
properties as well as the results of city
hearings on the property.
Support
the City’s“Blight
Hearing”process
with pictures and statements confirming the
actual condition of properties summoned to the
hearings.
Support
the City’s follow-up processes to assure that
chronically blighted properties are either
cleaned up or sold at“blight
lien”sheriff’s
sales.
Provide
feedback to City officials on the effectiveness
of the city code enforcement efforts.
Assist
the City in identifying properties that should
be remediated with government funding.
Assist
the city with resolving the issue of the
continued presence of FEMA trailers in Lakeview.
Advise
blighted property owners of the City’s code
enforcement efforts and encourage them to clean
up their property.
Report
survey results to our residents and media as
appropriate.
Report
progress and solicit neighborhood input at
General Membership Meetings and through
Newsletter reports.
